Driving impact

Impact is meaningful, lasting change for beneficiaries of a charity that can be attributed to a specific intervention.  It is notoriously difficult to achieve. 

Impetus – The Private Equity Foundation is a ‘venture philanthropy’ organisation that provides management support and grant funding to the charities it works with.  It focuses on driving impact and has written a paper describing its approach.

Impetus-PEF has also developed the Charity Outcomes Framework, a tool for helping charities to improve their performance.  It identifies the core management disciplines that Impetus-PEF considers most important for charities, criteria for assessing them and a ratings system for tracking progress.  The core management disciplines are Leadership, Impact and Organisational Sustainability.
